Our library includes an extensive range of books on pregnancy, birth, parenting and many other related subjects. The library has been built up over the years from generous donations from authors, women who found the Centre invaluable and wanted to give something back, midwives and birth educators, and grants received by the charity. This makes the library a very important resource for the Centre, because the books were all given to the charity to help others by loaning them out and because of the specialist subjects available.
Most books are available for loan for 4 weeks and we have some midwifery text books which are reference only but anyone wishing to use these is welcome to use a room to study quietly.
The library is run on a self-service basis whereby we rely on people to sign out the books giving their full details and returning them on time. For general browsing , if you are coming along for a session at the centre you are welcome to browse before or after your class or if you have not come along to the Centre before it is always useful to give us a call first 0131 2293667.
