Lyssa Clayton – Homeopathy
I offer Homeopathy consultations to women before, during and after pregnancy, to their partners, to babies and children from newborn and up to the age of 5. I have clients of all ages from birth to 90 years old.
My first involvement with the PPC was through my pregnancies and then by being a Trustee for a number of years. I am passionate about the health of women and their babies, children and families and excited at the scope for enhancing health and well-being at the deepest level through homeopathy.
I first started learning Homeopathy at evening classes and study groups over 35 years ago, and completed a 4 year course in 1998. I learn more every day through the people who come to see me, in my search for the best possible homeopathic remedy for each person. My own knowledge is always evolving through study, reading, having professional supervision and by attending a wide range of seminars and CPD events in the UK and Europe.
I was involved in setting up the first Scottish Birth Teachers course which I also attended. I have been involved with pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, post-natal support and parenting since being pregnant with my daughter 33 years ago.
I am a Registered member of the Society of Homeopaths ( RSHom) I have a Diploma and Licentiateship in Homeopathy and an MA Honours degree in Medieval History. I also offer Professional Supervision and Mentoring.
I have three children, all now adults. Homeopathy was invaluable, essential in fact, for me in caring for their health and well-being from my pregnancies onwards.
Along with my constant explorations in homeopathy I spend as much time as I can singing, in various groups in Edinburgh and elsewhere with friends. Working with sound, voice, harmony and resonance fits so well with homeopathy. I am learning to grow food in containers – using homeopathy in my gardening efforts – and spend time with my feisty grandchildren and getting to as many good plays and films as I possibly can.
Keith Farvis – Craniosacral Practitioner
I am the father of two grown-up children and have been in therapeutic practice for over 30 years, since 1985. I am a fully trained, registered and insured Craniosacral Therapist and I am fully qualified in working with mothers and babies. I have offered Craniosacral Therapy since 1994 and have been working with mothers and babies since 2000.
I joined the PPC in January 2010 because I strongly believe in the work that the Centre is doing. I also have a firm belief in the value of Craniosacral work for both mothers and babies, and would like to make it as available as possible as I think that every baby would benefit from having Craniosacral treatment after birth.
Michelle Roots – Massage
I offer Swedish Massage and Indian Head Massage. Massage is a wholly natural treatment known to support deep relaxation, muscle easing, lymph drainage and healthier skin.
Having moved to Edinburgh in 1981 to attend Art College, I have been caring full time in a variety of ways and in a range of settings for 30 years. I attended Nadine’s classes in 1990 and still feel the birth of my daughter is the most important, transforming experience of my life. I am now very happy to be supporting other women experiencing pregnancy and parenthood.
I began formal massage in 2010, subsequently attaining Swedish Massage level 3, Indian Head Massage diploma, Certificate in Pregnancy Massage, Myofascial Release diploma and Reiki 2. I am a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists.
Touch is my favourite form of communication and I believe massage treatments can be deeply supportive and renewing on many levels.
Stephanie Turner – Counselling
I completed a Master of Arts in Dramatherapy at Roehampton University (in London) in 2010 as well as other trainings which compliment and support my main therapeutic philosophy. These include Mentalisaton Based Treatment from the Anna Freud Centre (London), Birth Art training (Birthing from Within) and a Diploma in Creative Approaches to Supervision and Reflective Practice.
As well as work with perinatal women and their families, my current NHS role is within high security forensic services. Prior to this I provided a therapy service in the Dundee community for women and men experiencing mental health problems such as anxiety, stress, depression and relationship difficulties. This work is alongside an Edinburgh-based private practice in therapy and the supervision of other psychological practitioners.
My relationship with the Pregnancy and Parents Centre started in 2009 before the birth of my first child. I have always found it to be a warm, welcoming sanctuary, offering a non-judgemental space for women to share experiences, gain support and feel nurtured. I align by therapy practice with the centre’s vision and intention: to enable all expectant parents, parents and their families to experience pregnancy, birth and parenthood with a sense of wellbeing.
Fiona Reilly – Reflexology & Active Listening Therapy
I am passionate about living true to my heart and soul, and empowering others to do the same. I offer Reflexology, Maternity Reflexology and Active Listening Therapy. I have supported many women and families around the time of birth and am passionate that they feel empowered and in their strength whatever their circumstances. I greatly admire the work done at the PPC and the role it plays in supporting families within and around Edinburgh
I obtained a first class honors degree in Psychology in 2003 and additionally have completed a Certificate in Counseling skills. I have been practicing as an Openhand Facilitator since 2009, working with people in an active listening and empathic role, supporting them in releasing blockages that are creating discomfort and enabling them find their truth and lightness again. I have always been drawn to caring for others and have worked supporting births, as post natal help, teaching, running workshops and retreats among other things…
